Police have charged 14 people after they broke a stay-at-home order and threw an illegal house party. According to the city’s statement, on Monday the police received a complaint about loud noises and an illegitimate social gathering on Echoridge Drive. After the force discovered a party of 14 people that were violating the Reopening Ontario Act, which prohibits any indoor gatherings, all attendants of the party, including the tenants of the house, were fined 880$.
As the city states the significant fines for people, who break the stay-at-home order, are motivated by the fact that although the law is very clear, there are still plenty of those who tend to violate the protocols of safety.
Currently, the regulations forbid any indoor and outdoor social gatherings with someone from a different household, unless citizens live alone in which case – they are allowed to join one more household.
