Ontario has designated the week beginning every 3rd Sunday of November to anti bullying
and spreading awareness of its effects.
So why is bullying a concern?
Bullying is a concern for all parents, teachers or the individuals being bullied as a child. With
its effects far-reaching in society, it is no wonder it has the attention of the government.
For parents, it causes their child to feel isolated, lonely and demeaned. Most parents, of
course, want their child to learn in a inclusive and healthy environment.
For teachers, most of them feel a sense of responsibility to uphold and lead a socially
healthy new generation into adulthood. After all, it is their job to educate and guide
youngsters both academically, and in a sense, morally/socially as well.
For other members of society, being bullied as a child could have long lasting psychological
effects into adulthood, if not taken care of in time. This would mean a society of adults that
becomes troubled members of society. It is a close-knitted society, and we are are all
affected to own another in some way or other.
