$3.5 Million Worth Stolen Vehicles returned to Canada

Decades after being taken from driveways all throughout the Greater Toronto Area, dozens of automobiles have been found and brought back to Canada from halfway around the globe.
64 stolen automobiles worth $3.5 million, according to York Regional Police, were discovered in shipping containers in the Republic of Malta and were “ready to be sold unlawfully.”
Since then, the cars have been returned with the help of the Malta Port Authority and the Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA).

According to police, detectives think that members of an auto theft ring that has been the focus of a multi-year investigation known as “Project Majestic” took each of the vehicles from driveways across the Greater Toronto Area.

In March 2021, a total of 18 persons were detained in connection with the investigation.
Police also confiscated 70 stolen automobiles for $4.5 million at the time. The suspects got into the cars and changed the ignition computer programmes so that a new key could be used to drive the cars away. The automobiles were either placed into shipping containers in Toronto and sent by rail to Montreal, or they were driven directly to the Port of Montreal. After being put onto ships, the containers were then driven to customers in Africa and the United Arab Emirates.
According to the police, a high-end car theft ring primarily targeted sport utility vehicles made by Lexus, Toyota, and Honda.
