Some businesses might be temporarily closed starting from Friday
Today, on Friday, April 23 Toronto and Peel region might start ordering to shut down businesses that had five or more Covid-19 outbreaks in the last 14 days. On Tuesday, due to the high number of recent Covid-19 outbreaks, Toronto and Peel Region announced to issue a list of businesses that are to be temporarily closed for 10 days. This list was expected to come out by Friday, after health care workers had requested the authorities to review businesses that were allowed to remain open, referring to the fact that open workplaces increase the possibility of Covid-19 spread.
Peel Region also promised to contact businesses directly, prior to publishing their names publicly. According to the statement, the employees of the affected businesses are to be paid sick leaves while they would have to self-quarantine at home.
